AN OPEN HOUSE will be held on Sunday, August 21st from 2-4pm at the Annex House (the old parsonage across from the church fellowship hall). Come by and see the work the Trustees and volunteers have done on this house over the past few weeks in order to list it with a rental agency. Light refreshments will be served. *A love offering will also be taken on August 21st in both worship services to go towards some of the major repair bills. CROP WALK OPPORTUNITY THIS OCTOBER!!!
The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County CROP WALK for World Hun-ger will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 1:30pm – 4:00pm at Corpening Plaza in Downtown Winston-Salem. Our goal is to raise $100,000 and have over 1000 teams walking in this year’s CROP WALK. I serve as the chairperson of CROP WALK Education Committee. Our goal is to raise awareness as well as get more children and youth involved in this one-day event. The walk takes place in downtown Winston Salem and has a 3 mile route through Old Salem campus. Worship and the Arts Banner Workshop
Mt. Carmel UMC (4265 Ebert Road in Winston-Salem) will be hosting a Worship and Arts Banner Workshop today from 1-5pm. In the Old Preschool Room. The Banner Ministry started as a work team experience by Marilyn and Jim Walker.
They are based in Orlando, Florida, but travel throughout the USA and the world inspiring churches in worship through banner making workshops as part of their “His Name Exalted” ministry. The workshop will focus on a Biblical teaching on why we have banners in church, what the colors represent, etc. After the lesson, Marilyn will lead participants on how to make a large banner for the church and have an opportunity to review patterns. Jim will teach the men on how to carry the banners and how to construct the poles and stands.
